Editorial policy
TrueSolarCost is written and edited by Jimmy L Wu. The site publishes calculator-driven research, not hot-take opinion. This page documents the standards every page is held to.
The standards, in 30 seconds
- Sourcing: primary references only — see /methodology.
- Cadence: rate / tax / regulatory claims re-verified before any publish that surfaces them; durable claims annually.
- AI: drafting + editing only. Every number, formula, and citation is human-verified before publish.
- Corrections:emailed corrections are fixed promptly; the page's Updated date reflects the change.
Sourcing
Numbers and claims come from primary references — see /methodology for the tiered source model. Pages cite by name, not by vague phrasing like “experts say.” Solar installer directories, quote marketplaces, and affiliate roundups are not used as authority for prices, incentives, payback, or tax-credit timing.
Review cadence
Each page lists an “Updated” date. Time-sensitive claims are reviewed when the underlying source updates; durable claims (formulas, sourced reference tables, methodology) are reviewed at least annually against the current published edition. When a page carries time-sensitive numbers (rates, market data, commodity prices), it ships a published refresh cadence at the top of the page.
AI policy
AI tools assist with drafting and editing. Every number, formula, and source citation on this site is human-verified before publish — AI is not trusted to invent specifics. Pages that include any AI-assisted feature (such as the on-site assistant) carry a visible disclosure.
Monetization and lead generation
TrueSolarCost currently has no installer lead form, quote marketplace, affiliate ranking, or display-ad ID wired into the site. If that changes, pages that contain paid links, lead-generation forms, sponsored placements, or affiliate relationships will disclose the relationship near the relevant surface and on the disclosures page. Paid relationships will not be allowed to set calculator thresholds, source tiers, tax-credit wording, or editorial verdicts.
Corrections
If a page has a factual error, email admin@truesolarcost.com. Corrections are made promptly and the page's “Updated” date reflects the change.
